From The Armchair #19 - Skeletons of Society Part II
By No32 Once again the Skeletons of Society prevail, the young, down trodden, the flamed and slagged from all quarters. Its not the fountain of youth, is the river of reality which is flowing through the Essendon Football club on how the game needs to be played to defeat the top sides and once again rise to the mountain top.. Taking a look at yesterdays game of the players who you would think are in our best 22 for 2009 and also leading into 2010, I will also consider some who are on the sidelines due to injury and have form or some impact to show another pre-season under their belt could be the next massive step… Back – Slattery (23, 70 games) : Pears (19, 25 games) : Atkinson (24, 7 games) Half Back – Dempsey (21, 29 games) : Hurley (19, 7 Games) : Fletcher (34, 309 games) Centre – Dyson (23, 84 games) : McVeigh (28, 185 games) : Prismall (23, 35 games) »

Ryder & Dempsey Gawn
Unless the Bombers make the finals, the seasons of ruckman Patrick Ryder and Courtenay Dempsey seem over following injuries in the Bombers upset victory over St. Kilda yesterday. Ryder is expected to miss up to three weeks after injuring a muscle behind his knee and Dempsey will miss at least two matches, after MRI scans revealed the extent of his hamstring strain. The news however was better for veteran defender Dustin Fletcher, after he was cleared of serious damage to his hamstring, but he remains an unlikley starter for this Sunday’s AFL Round 21 clash against Fremantle at Subiaco Oval. »
