Watson's 39 Touches Gives Him The Nobby Lead
In what is becoming a weekly event, Brent Stanton and Jobe Watson continue to swap the lead in the 2009 Nobby Clarke Medal, with Watson regaining the lead after his 39 possession game in the Bombers loss against St. Kilda last Sunday evening. Stanton failed to register in the votes, while Andrew Lovett’s 4 vote haul behind Watson saw him move to 3rd overall. Bendigo Disgraced Once Again
By beerme Very windy conditions. Not much cover from structures to prevent the wind. Willy was good. Jolley, Cloke among others as VFL players. This is the bulldogs 2nds side, which was undefeated coming in, so a loss was not unexpected. The result was bad. The team was poor from a personel POV but even worse from a competitive POV. I did not see Tyson Slattery. But the numbers were all over the shop. Hurley: I wouldn’t think Hurls will love watching the replay. Was at times casual in his approach. Loved to bomb it long. For those easily offended do not stress. He moved very well and looked far and above this standard of footy. Just knows where to go and at times used it very well. Just a natural. Talks a bit at the huddles. Daniher: Looked OK. Always 100% and looking to run off. Prissa: Was okay. Still a few weeks away from fitness I would think. Played in the middle and did what they would have expected. Ball magnet. Knows where to go. Didnt say a word in 3rd qtr huddle. Atkinson: Im not sure why they do not play this guy in a lock down role down back. Surely that would be his role if he played in the seniors. Was in and out but he is never going to be a guy who stands out, he is a role player. Jetta: Was good. Showed some Monfies esq lead up abilities and clunked a few. He is ready to play in the ones and did all that you could want from small forward in the ressys. This does not mean I would pick him, just that he is right to go. Quinn: Made mistakes that you would expect a guy who hasn’t played 10 games to play. With that in mind though, I thought he looked really good. Runs lines very well, is tough and skills are okay. This time next year he should be ready for a backline or tagger role in the ones. Magin: Looks good when he gets it. Lucas: Looked dangerous as you would expected. Ball didnt exactly flow through that well. Would be very comfortable to see Hurley in next week regardless of the seniors result or injuries. Jetta is good to go if they feel a need for another crumber. Daniher could probably go too but would be behind Hurley and you can only play so many of that size defenders.
