Bombers Cull List - Skippy Culls Himself
Essendon will have four selections in the 2009 AFL National Draft following their list submission to the AFL. Hayden Skipworth today joined the earlier retirements of skipper Matthew Lloyd and forward Scott Lucas announcing that “my body is struggling to cope with the AFL workload and I wasn’t able to play the sort of footy I wanted to play, especially in the second half of the year”. Skipworth played 11 senior games for the Bombers in 2009 after playing 44 games for Adelaide across a five-year career before being delisted at the end of the 2006 season. He then joined Bendigo in the VFL for two years, winning their best and fairest in 2008, before drafted by the Bombers in the AFL Pre Season Draft last year. The Bombers also announced that John Williams (one senior game) and rookie list players Rhys Magin (four senior games), Tom German, Bryce Carroll and Kade Klemke have been delisted. Essendon will now have selections 10, 24, 26 & 33 in the November 26 draft after the departures of Lloyd, Lucas, Skipworth, Andrew Lovett, Jay Nash, John Williams and the arrival of ex-Hawk Mark Williams during the trade period. »

Mark Williams A Bomber - Nash Gone
No …. some Bomber fans wet dreams have not come true … Coach Matthew Knights has not been replaced by Port Adelaide Coach Mark Williams … but Hawthorn forward Mark Williams has landed at Windy Hill following the conclusion of AFL Trade Week. In a complex deal, the Bombers, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide and Geelong were involved in 4 club deal that also saw Bomber Jay Nash return to his home state and Port Adelaide while the Bombers secured selections 24 and 33 in the NAB AFL Draft along with Williams. “We are extremely happy with the outcome of this trade deal and think it will deliver excellent short and long-term benefits for the football club,” Knights said. “We wanted an x-factor forward who could fill a number of roles and Mark Williams is just that player. He kicked three goals in the 2008 grand final and five goals in the preliminary final so he can deliver on the big stage. “He is a great kick at goal and has recovered from the knee injury that hampered him this year. He will be a very exciting addition to our forward line and, importantly, he was very keen to come to Windy Hill.” West Australian Williams, 26, played 111 games for Hawthorn from his 2002 debut and kicked 242 goals. »
